OUR TEAM
J Alex Kelamis

Dr. Joseph (Alex) Kelamis

Dr. Joseph (Alex) Kelamis is a Tulsa, Oklahoma native who grew up working in many roles at his family’s restaurant. Working alongside his grandmother and father, he learned the importance of excellent customer service, teamwork, business management and hard work first hand. The generational entrepreneurial spirit continued to serve him as he launched his own small business, Kelamis Plastic Surgery, in February of 2021. Without his family’s love, support and exemplary work ethic, Dr. Kelamis would not be who he is today.
Dr. Kelamis had the opportunity to attend Kansas University, the College of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma and complete a 7-year plastic and reconstructive integrated residency in the dual Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland Shock Trauma program in Baltimore. This unique resident rotation experience gave Dr. Kelamis the ability to train at all of the major teaching hospitals in the Baltimore area (Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, the Johns Hopkins Hospital, R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, University of Maryland Medical Center) as well as at the Curtis National Hand Center at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital and at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He authored a number of professional research papers, several of which related to performing micro surgery, facial reconstruction and facial transplants during a research year. Dr. Kelamis’ mentors, co-residents and patients continue to have a profound impact on why and how he practices medicine.

He enjoys getting to know the diverse individuals seeking his care for everything from cosmetic surgery to gender affirming procedures; breast reconstruction to hand surgery and beyond. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Dr. Kelamis partners with local surgeon colleagues to care for trauma-related injuries as well as post-skin and breast cancer reconstruction. His go-to music in the operating room usually includes classic rock.

When not operating, Dr. Kelamis spends quality time with his two children and wife. His hobbies include boxing, welding and fishing. His motto is: Measure twice, cut once.
