Thigh / Buttock Lift

A body lift, known as a belt lipectomy also known as panniculectomy, is a procedure to raise and reshape unwanted, sagging body contours. During the aging process, skin loses some elasticity, causing the mid-section to lose its natural shape and firmness. This procedure is designed to remove loose skin and related fat deposits, thus, providing a more youthful appearance. A body lift can be applied to the lower torso and upper legs including the abdomen, waist, inner/outer thighs, buttocks, and/or hips. Liposculpting may also be completed in conjunction with a body lift.

Who Could Benefit from a Thigh/Buttock Lift?

Patients who are dealing with loose, sagging skin in the thigh or buttock area despite a solid diet and exercise routine make good candidates for a thigh/buttock lift. This is because once the skin has been stretched to a point that it cannot bounce back, it requires outside help to tighten again. For many people, the surest way to do this is through a professionally performed procedure like a thigh or buttock lift.

Anyone who is considering this procedure should also be in generally good health and be able to withstand a procedure that involves general anesthesia. During your consultation, we will help you find out if a thigh or buttock lift is the best course of action for you.

What Does a Thigh or Buttock Lift Involve?

The process will begin with a consultation with our plastic surgeon to discuss your goals and concerns. Once it is confirmed that you are a good candidate for surgery, we can then schedule your procedure.

The procedure is carried out under general anesthesia and involves the removal of excess skin from the thigh/buttock area. If necessary, a thigh lift may also include the removal of stubborn, unwanted fat that may be keeping you from attaining a youthful, contoured thigh and buttock area.

You should be allowed to return home shortly after your procedure has been completed. Once home, it is strongly advised to use the next 2-3 weeks to rest. This will help ensure that you recover as comfortably and quickly as possible.

While the results of your thigh and/or buttock lift will be apparent almost immediately, it may take a few weeks before they are fully visible. This is because it takes some time for swelling and bruising to fade following surgery. However, most patients can expect their results to last for many years.
